Victorian Speed Limit Review 2011

In June 2011 VicRoads called for submissions to a Speed Limit Review which, although described as holistic, appeared to mainly focus on the spatial arrangement of speed limit zones in the road network.

The MTF submission commented on the following

- World good practive with regards to speeds in local streets

- case for blanket speed zones

- 30 kph in appropriate areas

- design lower speeds into new developments

- role of reduced speeds in the viability of activity centres

- role of local government, particularly for enforcement
